REPORT A NUISANCE

What We Do

Code Enforcement is a division within the Planning & Land Use Department and under the supervision of the Planning & Land Use Director.  Code Enforcement responds to violations of land use and nuisances outlined within Municipal Code, Chapter 350: Zoning & DevelopmentChapter 254: Nuisance Enumerated and the 2015 adopted International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC).  Typical violations investigated are large accumulation of weeds, trash and debris; construction and development without permits; inoperable vehicles; vacant and abandon buildings; illegal signs and zoning violations.

Process & Inspection Schedule

As of January 2018, a Lead Code Enforcement Officer joined the team and the department worked together to enhance how property inspections are assessed.  Learn more here.  Our goal continues to be compliance - not punishment.  The Code Enforcement Team is actively networking to gather resources that can help those needing assistance.

Citizen Complaints
Anyone can anonymously submit a complaint regarding a property in violation of the Zoning & Development Code
here.  Once received the Code Enforcement Officer will conduct an inspection and begin the process.  Public Safety concerns regarding transients, trespassing, drug activity etc. can be directed to Public Safety by calling the  non-emergency line at (505)753-5555.
