Code Enforcement is a division within the Planning & Land Use Department and under the supervision of the Planning & Land Use Director. Code Enforcement responds to violations of land use and nuisances outlined within Municipal Code, Chapter 350: Zoning & Development; Chapter 254: Nuisance Enumeratedand the 2015 adopted International Property Maintenance Code(IPMC). Typical violations investigated are large accumulation of weeds, trash and debris; construction and development without permits; inoperable vehicles; vacant and abandon buildings; illegal signs and zoning violations.

As of January 2018, a Lead Code Enforcement Officer joined the team and the department worked together to enhance how property inspections are assessed. Learn more here. Citizen Complaints Anyone can anonymously submit a complaint regarding a property in violation of the Zoning & Development Codehere. Once received the Code Enforcement Officer will conduct an inspection and begin the process. Public Safety concerns regarding transients, trespassing, drug activity etc. can be directed to Public Safety by calling the non-emergency line at (505)753-5555.
